Usefulness of Diagnostic Polysomnography in Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome
Lee Seung-Hoon

Abstract
In children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), Polysomnography (PSG) is recommended as the gold standard diagnostic test to evaluate the severity of OSAS. When compared to adults with OSAS, there are some differences in definition and clinical diagnosis in children with OSAS. Laboratory-based nocturnal PSG is expensive, uncomfortable, not readily accessible, delay definite treatment for OSAS. Therefore, We just performed the PSG in suspected children with OSAS who caregiver want to know objectively the sleep and respiratory disturbances during sleep. In addition, PSG may be performed in children who had high postoperative residual or recurrence OSAS after surgery and high peri-operative risk, such as, postoperative respiratory compromise, or bleeding tendency.
